| Requirements Title: BAPS System Modernization Phase II |
| Description: A comprehensive modernization of the Iceberg Analysis and Prediction System (BAPS) desktop client used at the International Ice Patrol. Title 46 of the US Code and SOLAS directs the International Ice Patrol (IIP) to track and report iceberg movements in the North Atlantic to prevent at sea collisions. As the sole US Government entity assigned this task, IIP requires unique software to display its iceberg models for public consumption. IIP’s iceBerg Analysis and Prediction System (BAPS) requires an updated operating system (OS) and database due to sunsetting support for these items and failure to meet modern CG Cybersecurity requirements. As no other government entity conducts iceberg modeling and prediction products, BAPS is a custom-made system that requires complex scripts, intuitive interface, and automatic product creation. Without an upgraded system, IIP will lose its authority to operate and be unable to support its statutory missions. This requirement is the second phase of a two-phase upgrade. The first phase was completed in the Fall of 2022. |
